Noida/Greater Noida, 12 June 2026: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert — the highest level of weather warning — for Noida, Greater Noida and the entire Delhi-NCR region today, as a powerful storm system approaches from Haryana. Residents have been urged to stay indoors and take immediate precautions.

What Is the Red Alert Warning For? - 12 June 2026

According to the IMD and local authorities, the following severe weather conditions are expected across Noida, Greater Noida, Dadri, Jewar and surrounding NCR areas today:

  • Thunderstorms with intense lightning activity
  • Moderate to heavy rainfall during afternoon and evening hours
  • Hailstorm in isolated pockets across the region
  • Sustained winds of 70 to 90 km/h, with gusts touching 100 km/h in some locations
  • Dust storm activity across parts of western Uttar Pradesh including Noida

Why Is This Storm So Dangerous?

Weather officials have warned that an intense convective storm system is moving eastward from Haryana toward Delhi-NCR. Satellite observations confirm the cloud mass is rapidly approaching and could trigger dangerous conditions within hours. Wind speeds of 70 to 100 km/h are capable of uprooting trees, damaging temporary structures, dislodging hoardings, and creating flying debris hazards across Noida and Greater Noida.

Earlier this week, strong wind gusts from similar storm systems caused widespread disruption in several NCR locations, including a dry tree falling on vehicles in Rohini. The current system is expected to be significantly stronger.

Impact on Daily Life in Noida and Greater Noida - 12 June 2026

  • Traffic congestion and delays on Noida Expressway, Yamuna Expressway and NH-58 due to rain and reduced visibility
  • Temporary power outages due to falling trees and damaged power lines
  • Waterlogging expected in low-lying areas of Noida and Greater Noida
  • Damage to unsecured outdoor objects, rooftop items and temporary structures
  • Possible flight disruptions at Delhi IGI Airport and the newly opened Jewar Airport

5-Day Weather Forecast for Noida-NCR

  • 12 June (Today): Thunderstorms, lightning, heavy rain, gusts up to 100 km/h | 30-39 degrees C
  • 13 June (Saturday): Intermittent rain and thunderstorms | 29-38 degrees C
  • 14 June (Sunday): Partly cloudy, scattered showers | 29-37 degrees C
  • 15 June (Monday): Light to moderate rain likely | 30-38 degrees C
  • 16 June (Tuesday): Rain and thunderstorms in afternoon and evening | 30-39 degrees C

Thunderstorm Activity to Continue on 12 and 13 June

IMD has confirmed that thunderstorm activity is likely to continue on both 12 June and 13 June 2026. The changing weather pattern is expected to provide temporary relief from the severe heat that gripped Noida-NCR earlier this week, with temperatures that had climbed above 40 degrees Celsius now expected to drop significantly after the storm passes.

  • Do not stand near trees, electric poles or boundary walls during the storm
